Hello, I am SFC Steve Appleby; I have been assigned as the Recruiting and Retention Sergeant for C Company 1/112th Infantry Regiment in Bradford, PA. I am a native of Eldred, PA, in McKean County and a graduate of Otto Eldred High School. I have served in the Army since September of 1979 in a variety of assignments, including infantry, Airborne Infantry, and Special Forces. I have been based in a number of locations including Ft. Campbell, Ft. Bragg, Republic of Panama, and a number of other Central and South American countries. I joined the 1/112th in 1993 and served as a weapons squad leader, platoon sergeant and an acting platoon leader. In 1999 I became a Recruiting and Retention NCO.

"Charlie Company" has an outstanding reputation as a mechanized infantry company and is currently staffed by an excellent group of experienced leaders and motivated young men eager to maintain that reputation. Our equipment and training have improved dramatically over the last few years and things look even better for our future. We are receiving up to date weapons and equipment bringing us up to par with our active duty counterparts.

I am excited about the changing face of the guard and am enjoying the job of meeting young people and informing them about the opportunities in the guard.
